Yes, what later became known as “The Hammer” (and what was, in earlier times, allegedly, just a nicely shaped piece of rock, found on walk-about), was a handy, versatile multi-tool for the average hominid about town. Somewhere, about 32,000 years ago, someone attached a handle.

And, we have been customizing and specificizing it ever since.

Hearsay is that this collection is related to the cobbler industry.
