Episode Notes:

Please be mindful: This episode deals with substance abuse, depression and addition. If these are sensitive triggers for you, please take care while listening.

Woody Giessmann and I sat down to talk about art, addiction, the Del Fuegos and what is evidence based therapy. He is a licensed addiction specialist and a Board Certified Family Interventionalist.

He is also an artist, painter and musician, who was the drummer for the 80s band, The Del Fuegos.

Addiction, both to substances and to behaviors, has ruined so many lives. It came under the microscope with the opioid epidemic in the last decade, but has certainly been around much, much longer.

He and I explore a bit of his history, the definition of addiction and what art therapy really means.

It is a fascinating conversation that I know I will be unpacking for a while in my head.

If you, or a loved one, is concerned about addiction, please call the National Substance Abuse Hotline at 1-800-622-4357

Or get in touch with Woody and his team at Right Turn at 781-646-3800, ext 105 for Intake

About Cherry Bomb! The Podcast

Join host Matt McKee as he talks with artists, chefs, entrepreneurs and innovators on the subjects of Food, Art and Sustainability.

The Inspiration for Cherry Bomb! The Podcast

After creating Cherry Bomb! and the rest of the Sweet Blasts series of photos, Matt found that every time he showed the works, deep conversations were sparked between him and his viewers as well as between the viewers themselves.

The podcast was the natural next step to continuing the conversation and sharing it with a wider audience.
