Sami Wakim - The Art of Street Art United States
Show Notes:
StreetArtUnitedStates.com is the brain child of Sami Wakim and celebrates the mural and street artists of the world. Far from simple tagging, the graffiti arts featured in the publication speak about society and social issues to so many people.
And, as Sami said in our conversation, “They give a voice to people who may not have one in our public discourse.”
From humble beginnings as a facebook page, it has grown into a multinational network of writers and artists.
Sami and I sat down in my studio to talk about life, art and his upcoming Lebanon Project bringing hope and positivity through art and workshops in the refuge camps.
The web site is constantly updated with new articles about projects and festivals and is a great read into the social/political world of public street art.
Check out the stories and support the project through merch at www.streetartunitedstates.com.
I hope you enjoy the show and, as always, if you have questions or comments, please email me at matt@mckeephotography.com
About Cherry Bomb! The Podcast
Join host Matt McKee as he talks with artists, chefs, entrepreneurs and innovators on the subjects of Food, Art and Sustainability.
The Inspiration for Cherry Bomb! The Podcast
After creating Cherry Bomb! and the rest of the Sweet Blasts series of photos, Matt found that every time he showed the works, deep conversations were sparked between him and his viewers as well as between the viewers themselves.
The podcast was the natural next step to continuing the conversation and sharing it with a wider audience.
